For Immediate Release

Thinking about going to a boarding school and wonder which one is the best for Lacrosse? Club Lacrosse.org has crunched the numbers and gives you the stats! Our curated dataset of over 15,000 commits enables players and parents to research where they might want to play, who might be in need of recruits, and more importantly when the colleges typically commit their players.

Timing counts

For example, Notre Dame typically recruits 70% of their players in the first month (September). After Jan 1st, ND typically only has 13% of their roster unfilled. That is the largest difference in our dataset; ND recruits early and finishes quickly. Denver on the other hand recruits steadily every month. So if your dream is playing at UDenver and it is January, do not worry. This is how they do things.

The List

Culver Academy takes the top spot as America’s #1 boarding school if you want to play lacrosse in college. And even more impressive is that 48 of their 52 commits are D1 (see the below table). They have the strongest empirical record of placing players in D1 seats.

We can also see Coach John Posner’s (ex-Culver) impact to the program at Lawrenceville. From 2022 to 2023 the number of recruits doubled. Deerfield has historically been very strong, but has recently had fewer.

Our dataset contains over 15,000 players. We source our data from various web sources, but focus mainly on Instagram and club websites. We present our data as “as good as it is going to get”, as there is nothing requiring notifications to the NCAA or other. If you do not see a player listed, it is likely that they did not publicize their commitment on social media.
